On July 19, the "Emergency Youth" Youth Emergency Medical Training Camp, hosted by the China-SCO Collaborative Center for Emergency Medical Rescue of Emergency Relief Departments (Emergency General Hospital) and co-organized by the Administrative Committee of the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Zone, concluded in Qingdao. Nearly 30 young representatives from SCO member states successfully completed all the camp activities and were awarded completion certificates personally presented by Ambassador Yerimbekbayev, Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The "Emergency Youth" initiative is a series of activities launched by Emergency General Hospital in 2024, designed to enhance young people’s life safety capabilities. As the first youth emergency medical education program under the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), this training camp, supported by the Asian Cooperation Fund, carefully designed a variety of theme-based study tours centered on emergency medicine.
During the camp, the young participants visited the China International Air Medical Rescue Base and the Qingdao Air Traffic Control Center, where they observed helicopter medical evacuation procedures up close, tried their hands at operating rescue equipment, learned about air traffic control command, and experienced the allure of aviation medicine in a comprehensive manner. At Ocean University of China, they toured the Marine Biology Museum and studied the medicinal value of marine organisms. At the Qingdao SCO Pearl International Expo Center, they learned about the cultures of various SCO member states, fostering cross-civilization exchanges and mutual learning. Visits to the China Science and Technology Museum and the Qingdao Naval Museum, among other venues, ensured that the young participants gained substantial knowledge and experience from every stop of the journey.
In particular, at the Qingdao Aviation Base, drawing on the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques they had learned earlier, the young participants collaborated with instructors from the Jiaozhou Red Cross Society to deliver emergency care awareness sessions targeted at flight personnel.

This event received strong support from the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Janesh Kain, Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO, and Cao Jie, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Emergency General Hospital, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. On July 18, Ambassador Nurlan Yermekbayev, Secretary-General of the SCO, presented certificates to the young participants and posed for group photos with them, speaking highly of the practical significance of the training camp. He pointed out that the SCO has always attached great importance to youth development. The "Emergency Youth" program has not only enhanced the participants’ self-rescue and mutual-rescue capabilities, but also sown the seeds of solidarity and collaboration in the hearts of the younger generation, injecting sustained impetusthe SCO’s cooperation in the emergency response field.

This event brought the young participants a wealth of interesting knowledge, challenging experiences, like-minded partners, and the motivation for growth driven by innovation and progress. The teenagers have expressed their insights on the training camp through writing lettersrecording videos.
