At the 4th Soochow International Humanitarian Forum held in September 2025, the National Research Center for Emergency Medicine (Emergency General Hospital) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) jointly showcased the project Humanity in the Digital World, which drew the active participation and interaction of numerous attending leaders and distinguished guests.

In 2024, the National Research Center for Emergency Medicine successfully co-hosted, for the first time, the event Chinese Humanitarian Traditions and International Humanitarian Concepts—An Exploration of Emergency Rescue Ethics in collaboration with the Relief and Ambulance Department of the Red Cross Society of China and the Regional Delegation for East Asia of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
In 2025, the organizers further expanded their research scopethe digital realm, and co-launched the project Humanity in the Digital World together with the ICRC Regional Delegation for East Asia, focusing on the risks and opportunities brought by digital technologies to humanity. Three key initiatives were put forward, namely "enhancing awareness of risks in conflict settings", "supporting the concept of digital responsibility", and "adopting principle-based digital transformation".

During the event, the National Research Center for Emergency Medicine (Emergency General Hospital) showcased its latest achievements in Artificial Intelligence + Medical Rescue: the initiative themed "AI Empowerment for Emergency Medical Rescue: Building a Multi-dimensional New Ecosystem for Rescue Operations" demonstrated the practices of intelligent rescue, intelligent diagnosis, intelligent deployment, intelligent transportation, and intelligent training in emergency medical rescue; the "AI-assisted Diagnosis and Treatment" program presented the outcomes of the hospital’s newly completed national key R&D program project — an app based on the GPT large language model, which provides frontline rescue teams with the capabilities of AI-assisted diagnosis and intelligent cloud-based scheduling of emergency medical resources.
This event marked a new exploration by the National Center for Emergency Medical Research in the humanitarian field, contributing to the further construction of a humanitarian ethics discourse system for emergency medicine with Chinese characteristics. Moving forward, the project will be showcased at the World Internet Conference and exhibited at renowned universities including Tsinghua University and Fudan University.
